3M™ DBI-SALA® Rollgliss™ R550 Rescue and Descent Device (with Wheel) is a fully automatic and versatile safety solution developed for the controlled descent, emergency evacuation, and professional rescue operations of personnel in working at height sites. Its centrifugal brake mechanism, which offers a constant descent speed of 0.6-0.9 meters per second, ensures a safe descent without requiring user intervention. The built-in rescue wheel (flywheel) allows for the precise management of the upward or downward movement of the personnel to be rescued, while its drill adapter support enables much faster lifting and lowering operations.
One of the most distinctive features of the equipment is its bidirectional (reciprocating) operating principle, which allows one end of the lifeline to descend while the other end simultaneously ascends, becoming instantly ready for the next evacuation process. This feature minimizes time loss in scenarios where multiple personnel need to be evacuated. Offering an operational capacity up to a height of 500 meters, the R550 represents the highest level of safety standards in the most demanding industrial environments and power facilities with its compact, corrosion-resistant aluminum housing and 9.5 mm special static rope system.
