When we examine the statistics in our country and different countries around the world, the number of employees who lost their lives or were severely injured by falling during working at height is close to half of the total occupational accidents.
Considering this dangerous situation, the European Union has determined the safety and health requirements of the equipment and systems to be used in working at height works in order to ensure that works at height are carried out in safety, and published them with the European Council Directive 2001/45/EC. In addition to this directive, the safety conditions that working at height equipment must have are also described in detail in the (EU) 2016/425 Personal Protective Equipment Regulation and related harmonized standards.
As in the European Union or other countries accepting these standards, we also have our own specific regulations for working at height activities in our country. The fundamental aspects in the field of working at height are specified in the Regulation on Occupational Health and Safety in Construction Works, and the training criteria of the personnel working at height are specified in the Regulation on the Procedures and Principles of Occupational Health and Safety Training of Employees.
