ABS 3a WH Rescue and Descent Device (Automatic Speed Regulation – 2 Persons)
ABS 3a WH Rescue and Descent Device (Automatic Speed Regulation – 2 Persons) is specially designed for self-rescue or third-party evacuation of persons remaining suspended in personal fall protection equipment after a fall arrest event on vertical and horizontal structures. Its superior ball-bearing swivel attachment and advanced braking mechanism reduce safety rope wear during descent while effectively dampening impact loads acting on the user.
The high-strength Ø 10.5 mm EN 1891 Type A kernmantle static rope running through its robust, compact, and seawater-resistant aluminum housing provides maximum anchor safety with double-safety aluminum IKV 11 carabiners on both ends. The integrated lifting mechanism with an interchangeable non-reverse ratchet system allows the suspended personnel to be lifted slightly to release them from the safety lanyard, followed by a controlled descent at a constant speed of 1.5 m/s. Friction brake horns are located on the housing for manual intervention when necessary.
With its durable structure resistant to harsh environmental conditions and a wide operating temperature range between -40°C and +50°C, the ABS 3a WH perfectly adapts to the most challenging rescue scenarios in wind turbines (WKE), cable cars, power lines, transmission towers, and heavy industrial sites.
Technical Specifications
- Integrated Lifting System: Thanks to its interchangeable non-reverse ratchet design, it allows the personnel suspended after a fall to be lifted up and safely evacuated.
- Automatic Speed Regulation: Offers a constant average descent speed of 1.5 m/s, providing controlled and safe evacuation independent of human error.
- Multi-User Capacity: Safely operates under nominal loads of 1 person (140 kg) and 2 persons (200 kg) according to EN standards, and 282 kg according to ANSI standards.
- Corrosion-Resistant Housing: Compact aluminum enclosure resistant to seawater, harsh field conditions, and impacts.
- Advanced Rope Equipment: Ø 10.5 mm high-strength KMS 105 EN 1891 Type A kernmantle static rope system.
- Double Safety Carabiners: High-security IKV 11 aluminum carabiner equipment on both rope ends.
- Extreme Operating Temperature: Full compliance with industrial and open field conditions with an operating environment tolerance between -40°C and +50°C.
- Manual Brake Horns: Housing-mounted friction brake mechanism providing manual speed control and rope fixing capability when required.
- International Certification: Full compliance with EN 341:2011/1A-1B, EN 1496:2017/A, and ANSI/ASSE Z359.4-2013 standards.
